Newspack roadmaps for 2022 focus on revenue and consistency

At our Tuesday meeting with publishers and developers, Newspack team lead Claudiu Lodromanean gave both a high-level look at our coming year and a detailed outline of the features you can expect.

We’ll be focusing on:

  • Reader revenue
  • Campaigns
  • Advertising
  • Newsletters
  • Listings
  • Theme
  • Further integrating the various components and simplifying site setup

We plan to bring you a Customer Relationship Management plugin. A CRM is used to compile information about your supports and prospects, among many other things.

We’re making adjustments to our Woo Commerce checkout page to better reflect the idea of donations and support, rather than buying a product. And we’re going to make the Campaigns plugin a bit more user-friendly for you, along with providing some templates for commonly requested prompts, such as donations and subscriptions.

You can see a lot more here in Claudiu’s slide deck.

Newspack embraces new Media Kit plugin to help drive direct sales

Also during the call, Newspack Ads Specialist Katie Rethman gave a demonstration of the Media Kit plugin she helped design and implement.

Her demonstration during the call can be seen here, and it includes how to download it and get started.

Changelog: A new Author List block makes it easier to create staff pages

We’ve had an Author Profile block for some time now, and publishers have used it to create staff lists, but it’s a bit cumbersome for that (though it’s great for other uses). So we’ve added an Author List block, which acts like a Homepage Posts block for authors, editors and other staff members.

Publishers have a variety of choices with the list including:

  • Placement and shape of author avatar
  • Centered or left justified presentation
  • Single column list or multiple columns
  • Ways to limit staff members by role, guest author or regular user
  • And all these:

Get our regularly scheduled meetings on your calendar with a couple of clicks

The Newspack world has grown quickly to where we can no longer send out individual invitations to meetings.

This should help get things straightened out and on your calendars.

We have a meeting every other Tuesday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. This is for publishers and developers to get together, but is by no means mandatory. Most of the meeting is turned over to guest speakers for professional development, or to one of our team members to highlight a major change to the Newspack platform. We use this meeting to update you on business and product developments, as well.

We also hold a 30-minute How To session each Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. We offer a quick look at one topic, block, feature or other useful maneuver. You can see how these work by going here for or small-but-growing library of videos. The password is ilovenews
